I love listening to music on YouTube because it always recommends tracks that I love. To listen to music offline on the go, I decided to download YouTube to MP3 on iPhone. Here, I will show you 5 different ways to do it.

The good thing is that you don't need to download third-party apps unless you intend to. You can download any YouTube video to MP3/MP4 including private YouTube videos.

Convert YouTube to MP3 Online

Since iOS 13, Safari allows you to download files on iPhone, so you can easily use any online YouTube downloader to download YouTube video to MP3. After testing a few of them, I recommend Loader.to. It is a free online multi-source downloader that enables you to download videos to MP3 or MP4 from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.

You can just paste the YouTube video URL to Loader.to and click the "Download' button to start downloading. By default, it will download YouTube videos as MP3. You can also change it to M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, etc. All music videos are supported.

You can also paste a playlist URL to download YouTube playlist to MP3. For playlists, you can also choose which video to start or end. However, it is not recommended to use an online downloader to download a YouTube playlist because it does not work well in terms of connection loss or running in the background.

As many other online downloaders, it allows you to download public YouTube videos that anyone can view without a YouTube account. You won't be able to use it to download private YouTube videos or Age-restricted videos. Also, be aware of the ads.

Luckily, I have found Loader. It is a multi-source media downloader app for iOS. You can use it to download music or videos from YouTube, Deezer, SoundCloud, and many more sites. More importantly, it allows you to download age-restricted YouTube videos and private videos.

You can paste the YouTube link and tap the search button to get started. The app will load the media and offer you a few options regarding quality and file format for you to choose. Then you can select the best one that suits you to start downloading the file on your iPhone or iPad.

YouTube to MP3 Downloader Shortcut

Since iOS 13, Shortcuts because a stock app on iPhone or iPad for automation. You can also use a pre-made iOS shortcut to download YouTube to MP3. When you first time open the Shortcuts app, it will be empty there. You will need to get a custom shortcut for downloading YouTube videos.

After the above steps, you can start to get this shortcut, also called Loader. To simply use it, you can copy the YouTube URL and tap to run this shortcut. Then you will be able to follow the instruction to slect quality and format to save the YouTube video as MP3 on your iPhone.

After completion, you can tap to play the audio. If there is no problem, please click the share icon in the lower left corner to select the storage location to save the MP3 audio. You can choose iCloud Drive or My iPhone.

YouTube-DL on iOS

You probably have heard of YouTube_DL for downloading YouTube videos. Yes, you can run it on your iPhone or iPad with the help of a free app called A-Shell, which provides a text-based terminal window. You can free download it from AppStore. After that, you can follow the steps below to install YouTube-DL on iPhone and start to extract audio from YouTube videos on iPhone.

1. Open the a-Shell app.

2. Type the following exactly as it appears and tap return:

pip install youtube-dl

3. When the installation is complete, you can run the command "youtube-dl" followed by the URL of the YouTube video that you want to download. To download audio as MP3, you will need some parameters. for example:

youtube-dl -i –extract-audio –audio-format mp3 –audio-quality 0 https://youtu.be/wvsP_lzh2-8

Be sure to replace the YouTube URL with the video that you want to download as MP3. You can also input playlist or channel URLS. Private YouTube videos are also supported and you just need to input your username and password of your YouTube account. The YouTube-DL program will download the video and show you the progress while doing so.

The file downloaded from A-Shell app will be saved in the A-Shell folder on your iPhone. You can open the Files app, tap On My iPhone > A-Shell folder to find the downloaded files.

YouTube to MP3 Telegram Bot

If you use Telegram, you can also use a Telegram bot to convert YouTube to MP3 on iPhone or iPad. You just open Telegram and search for this "@convert_youtube_to_mp3_bot". As its name suggests, this bot is for converting YouTube video to MP3.

Type "/start" and then paste the URL of a YouTube video to get started. This bot will deliver the audio file for you in Telegram and you can tap Share to save the audio file in another location.
